See a Czech import at the Modern

Reading the cast list for the film I Served the King of England, I was utterly appalled to see no mention of one Dame Judi Dench. How in the hell can you make a film about England without Dame Judi Dench? That's like making a cross-country car chase movie without Burt Reynolds. Or a schmaltzy horror-comedy without Bruce Campbell. Or a third-rate rom-com without Kate Hudson. Or a heavy-handed, environmentally conscious martial arts thriller without Steven Seagal. In other words...it's simply unfathomable. Turns out this flick is actually Czech, though, so I suppose I can cut them a break just this once. After all, the cast does feature an actress named Julia Jentsch; might even be a long-lost Czech Dench relative. Also hotter than actual Judi Dench. You can catch I Served the King of England--which tells the story of a young Czech waiter named Jan Dítě and his sexual conquests through the flashbacks of an older, wiser, post-incarceration Jan Dítě--at 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, 5 p.m. Sunday and 2 and 4 p.m. Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Tickets are $8.50, $6.50 for Modern members.
